SMART Notebook Lesson Exchange

Title: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Author: L. Rush
Topic: Metamorphosis of the Butterfly
Grade Level: Kindergarten-2nd grade (and special needs students)

3 Things I liked about the Lesson:
  1. Includes many pictures, visual images, and animations to help the visual learners.  It is also very interactive.
  2. It integrates math, science, reading, and writing into one lesson.
  3. The activity also includes games and activities to keep the student interested and focused.
2 Things I would Change about the Lesson:
  1. I might adapt the lesson so that it follows along better with Eric Carle's book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  For example, contain more images of the caterpillar seen in the book.  Then, the students could use the book as a guide throughout the activity.
  2. More letter tracing for the younger students.  Especially when the word turns into an image after it has been traced.
1 Thing I would Add to the Lesson:
  1. I would add in a video to go along with "The Fuzzy Caterpillar" song to show the students how the song should go.

Scratch Project

Scratch Project!

I created my name out of Sprite Letters.
I used the Superman S to show strength and changed it to a sailboat because I love to sail.
The H turned into a skier going down a hill because I love to ski.
The A was a crab at the beach because I love to play at the beach and used to catch crabs when I was little.
The first N is a present because I love Christmas time.
The next N is a monkey because it is my favorite animal.
The O is a koala because I think they are so cute!
The last N says "meow" because I like cats.
